Crime of the Week 07/01/2026

The Decatur Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.

Detectives are currently investigating a burglary that occurred during the early morning hours of June 29, 2026, at the CVS located at 570 North Fairview Avenue.

Responding officers discovered two shattered glass door panes. Investigators believe a brick was used to break the glass, allowing the suspect to gain entry into the business.

Surveillance footage captured an individual of unknown race wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black face mask, black shoes, and white gloves while carrying a black pillowcase or bag. After entering the business, the suspect walked to the cash register before leaving a short time later. The suspect was last seen walking southbound along the west side of the business.

06/24/2026 – Cold Case

The Decatur Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance with a cold case from 2021.
On July 11, 2021, at approximately 1:47 a.m., officers responded to the area of North Edward Street and West Main Street. Upon arrival, officers located Shomari Page, a Black male born on October 13, 1976, in the driver’s seat of a red Dodge Challenger. The investigation subsequently determined that Page was the victim of a homicide.
Detectives continue to actively pursue leads and are asking anyone with knowledge of the incident, no matter how minor it may seem, to come forward.

Crime Stoppers will pay $2,500 or more for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

Decatur Police Department – Crime of the Week 06/17/2026

The Decatur Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.
Detectives are currently investigating a shots fired incident that occurred at 1355 N IL Rout 48 on 06/14/2026 at approximately 2am.
Responding officers located 20 spent shell casings in the parking lot.  Three subjects arrived at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was described as a b/m, tall, thin build with dreads, wearing all black.

Crime of the Week 04/29/2026

The Decatur Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a series of thefts and vandalism incidents.
Detectives are currently investigating approximately 20 incidents involving the theft of headstones and vases, along with related vandalism. The damage and loss of property are estimated to total several thousand dollars.
The suspects are believed to be three individuals operating four-wheelers described as blue, red, and green in color. One of the suspects, who was riding the green four-wheeler, is described as a white male approximately 30 years of age. The other two operators appeared to be significantly younger.
In one incident, the suspects were observed traveling northbound through the Pilgrim Lutheran Church parking lot.
