During the early morning hours of June 17th, officers responded to a reported burglary at a convenience store located at 1101 N IL Route 48. Upon arrival, officers discovered the front window adjacent to the main entrance had been removed. No individuals were located inside the premises.
Surveillance footage captured two suspects approaching the store from the southwest. One suspect used a large rock to break the window near the front door, allowing both individuals to enter the business. The suspects stole approximately $140 worth of merchandise before fleeing northwest on foot.

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
In the early morning hours of April 27th, officers responded to a reported burglary at the Marathon Gas Station located at 101 E. Pershing Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a glass window on the east side door had been shattered.
Surveillance footage shows a suspect approaching the east entrance and using a hand tool to break the glass. The suspect then entered the business through the damaged door, removed an unknown quantity of merchandise, and fled the scene on foot heading southeast.
The suspect is described as a male wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, gloves, white shoes, and a facial covering.

On May 5th at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers responded to a reported structure fire to a vacant residence in the 600 block of East Wood Street. Both police and fire personnel arrived on the scene and confirmed that no individuals were located in or around the residence.
Surveillance footage obtained from a neighboring property depicts a suspect exiting the vacant home just prior to the start of the fire. The suspect is described as a thin-build white male, wearing a black hat, blue jacket, black pants, and black shoes. The individual was also seen carrying an orange backpack.

The Decatur Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.
On April 13, 2025, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of North Gulick Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located numerous shell casings at the intersection of North Gulick and West Center Street, as well as a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire near the scene.
During the investigation, officers spoke with several residents in the area and obtained descriptions of two suspects:
Prior to the incident, both suspects were observed walking with two light-skinned Black females, also believed to be around 16 years of age.

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On March 24th, at approximately 9:00 A.M., a victim briefly parked their red Jeep Cherokee in the 700 block of W. Macon. As the victim stepped away from the vehicle, an unidentified male suspect approached the unattended car. The suspect entered the driver’s seat of the Jeep and drove away westbound from the scene.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect as a Black male, wearing a gray or dark-colored jacket over a bright yellow shirt (resembling a safety vest) and dark pants. The suspect is of average height and build, with short dark hair.
