Crime of the Week 6/23/25
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
During the early morning hours of June 17th, officers responded to a reported burglary at a convenience store located at 1101 N IL Route 48. Upon arrival, officers discovered the front window adjacent to the main entrance had been removed. No individuals were located inside the premises.
Surveillance footage captured two suspects approaching the store from the southwest. One suspect used a large rock to break the window near the front door, allowing both individuals to enter the business. The suspects stole approximately $140 worth of merchandise before fleeing northwest on foot.
Suspect Descriptions:
- Suspect #1: Described as a Black male wearing a dark blue jacket with a white/gray hood, black “Puma” sweatpants featuring a white ring around the left pant leg, and grey/white Jordan Retro 6 sneakers. He was also carrying a blue backpack and wore a light-colored face mask and gloves.
- Suspect #2: Described as a Black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black boots. This individual carried a white plastic bag and also wore a light-colored face mask and gloves.

Crime of the Week 6-10-24
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On June 2nd, 2024 at approximately 11:55 P.M. Decatur Police responded to Express Tobacco located at 1101 N IL Rt. 48 in reference to a burglary. Officers arrived on scene and observed forced entry to a window of this building. Officers checked the business and observed no one inside. Various merchandise along with an undisclosed amount of US currency was missing.
Surveillance cameras captured two suspects inside the business. Both suspects were wearing facial coverings and appear to be male. The first suspect is wearing a black under armor sweatshirt, blue jeans along with a black colored cross body satchel. The second suspect is wearing a black t-shirt with a dark gray hooded shirt underneath, black adidas pants with white stripes on the sides, and a multi-colored backpack.

Crime of the Week 6-3-24
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
In the early morning hours on May 28th, 2024, Decatur Police were made aware of several burglary to motor vehicles that occurred to the businesses of KB Custom Tint and Mcelroy Auto Repair. These businesses share the same parking lot and are located at 2235 W Mound Rd.
Several vehicles on this lot were rummaged through with stereo equipment removed and steering wheel columns damaged.
Surveillance footage showed a White Hummer H2 on the lot during the time frame of the burglaries. A picture of the suspect vehicle can be observed below.

Crime of the Week 5-13-24
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On May 6th, 2024 Decatur Police responded to Main Street Church located at 2000 N Main in reference to a theft of copper piping from several Air Conditioning units.
The damage caused by the theft will cost the church over $60,000 to fix.
Witnesses were spoken to who observed a black colored Dodge truck with tinted windows parked near the A/C units a couple days prior to the theft. The suspect driving this truck was either a White or Hispanic male with a clean-shaven beard.
