The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On March, 5th 2022 at approximately 8:30 PM Decatur Police responded to the 100 block of S Oakland in reference to a pedestrian involved hit and run accident.  Two individuals were severely injured as a result of this hit and run. 

The investigation revealed a blue colored four door sedan was traveling N/B on Oakland at a high rate of speed.  This vehicle struck two individuals and then proceeded E/B on Main Street.

The suspect vehicle has chrome door handles, chrome or alloy rims, and damage to the front driver’s side quarter panel.

News Release 4/2/12

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. This week’s crime of the week is in reference to two different thefts of purses.

On 3/27/12 and again on 3/30/12, Patrol Officers responded to Wal Mart, located at 4224 N. Prospect. Both victim’s had their purses stolen while either loading their groceries in their vehicles or returning their carts to the return station. The suspect scopes out the parking lot for females loading groceries or returning carts. The suspect will look for an open window and snatch the purse when the victim is least expecting it.

The suspect is described as a w/m, 30’s, 508/165-170, shaved head with minor dark colored growth, medium complexion, minor facial hair, wearing a black sleeveless shirt and jean shorts baggy past his knees. The suspect was observed entering possibly a late 80’s model SUV possibly a Chevy Blazer or Nissan Pathfinder with damage to the driver’s side rear fender, with IL registration plate starting with either N71 or J71.

News release 2/28/12

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. This week’s crime of the week is in reference to approximately 20 car windows shot out in the Ravina Park and Home Park Neighborhoods, causing a large dollar amount of damage.

On 2/24/12, Patrol Officers fielded 20 different complaints from citizens in these neighborhoods in reference to their car windows being shot out by what appears to be a BB Gun. There are no suspects at this time. A suspect vehicle may be a silver colored smaller hatchback or station wagon with a loud muffler.

News release 2/20/12

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week. This week’s crime of the week is in reference to an armed robbery that occurred at 2185 E. Wood, Apex Petroleum. The Decatur Police Department feels this armed robbery is in connection with armed robberies that occurred at Dollar General, 3797 E. Rt. 36 and Huck’s, 3595 Larkdale Ct.

On February 16, 2012, at 3:03 AM, officers responded to Apex Petroleum, 2185 E. Wood in reference to an armed robbery. Once on scene, officers spoke to an employee who advised a b/m entered the store, shopped around for a short time, then approached the checkout counter and produced a dark colored handgun demanding all the money. The employee complied with the suspect and turned over US Currency. The suspect then fled the business w/b on Wood St.

The suspect is described as a b/m, 508/100, wearing a dark colored heavy hooded coat with fur around the hood. The coat also had the word “Chicago” on the front and back of the coat. The suspect was also wearing a fisherman’s hat and white rimmed sunglasses. The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this crime.
