Crime of the week 7-17-23
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
In the early morning hours of May 2nd, 2023 Decatur Police responded to the 900 block of Sunup Ct. In reference to a stolen vehicle. In addition, there were also several vehicles burglarized in this block.
Surveillance footage was observed and showed the suspect to be a w/m walking through the neighborhood and checking for unlocked vehicles. This suspect was wearing a black beanie hat, black coat, black pants, and white shoes.

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On 09/15/17, at 12:10 A.M., the Decatur Police Department responded to the 1400 block of East Wood St., in reference to shots fired and a subject laying on the ground. Upon arrival, they found a victim with gunshot wounds who was deceased laying on the ground.

News Release 08/21/17
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On 8/18/17 at approximately 9:15 P.M., a vehicle was traveling southbound in the 400 block of South Jasper Street. As this vehicle was traveling past the entrance of Johns Hill Park, a group of individuals who were standing on the west sidewalk began throwing rocks at the vehicle. One of the rocks struck a four year old child in the head who was seated in the back seat of the vehicle. The child received a life threatening skull fracture as a result of being struck in the head with the rock. The suspects are described as: black males, mid-teens, wearing white t-shirts.

News Release 07/25/17
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On 07/24/17, at 7:20am it was reported that a theft and criminal damage to property occurred, on the parking lot of 150 W. Pershing Rd. (Miles Chevrolet). This theft and criminal damage occurred sometime between the hours of 3:00pm, on 07/23/17 and 7:00am on 07/24/17. An unknown suspect or suspects removed several rims and tires from new vehicles on the lot. These type of crimes have also occurred on other dealership lots in Effingham and Macon County.
