Crime of the Week 11/04/2025

The Decatur Police Department is asking for your help in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.

On October 22nd, Decatur Police responded to a burglary at 620 East Garfield. Video shows two suspects wearing masks approaching the school on foot from the north.

One suspect is described as taller with a thin build, wearing dark clothing and white shoes. The second suspect was shorter, dressed in all black with dark shoes.

The taller suspect used a brick to break a window, and the shorter suspect crawled inside, taking a lock box containing cash before both fled on foot.

Crime of the Week 7/28/2025

The Decatur Police Department needs your help solving this week’s Crime of the Week.

On July 18th, 2025, officers responded to a report of a burglary at, Physicians Plaza West, 2 Memorial Dr. Sometime between 3:35 p.m. on July 17th and 7:00 a.m. the next morning, someone broke into a building under renovation. Tools and building materials were stolen.

A possible suspect was seen leaving the area. He’s described as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, about 5 foot 7, 180 pounds. He was wearing shorts, tennis shoes, and a head covering, with long brown hair visible in the back and shaved sides. Witnesses say he was pulling large red rolling cases and walking south from the scene.

Crime of the Week 07/14/2025

The Decatur Police Department is asking for your help in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.

On June 13, 2025, at approximately 3:30PM, officers took a report of a theft in the 100 block of N Dennis.

The victim stated a b/m rummaged through several packages on their front porch.  The suspect took a pair of earrings from the packages before leaving the area.  Surveillance footage at the residence shows the suspect — described as a Black male, medium complexion, wearing a black vest, black pants with a white belt and wearing a black face covering.

Crime of the Week 07/07/2025

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

The evening of June 30th, officers responded to a reported Vehicular Invasion in the area of the 800 block of S 19th St.  The incident occurred when the victim stopped to ask two juveniles pushing a lawnmower to mow her lawn.  While speaking with the male juveniles one of them reached into the vehicle and took the victim’s purse from the front passenger seat and fled the area on foot northbound.

Suspect Descriptions:

  • Suspect #1:  w/m, 14-16 years of age approx. 5’6” tall, thin build, dark hair wearing a gray t-shirt
  • Suspect #2: b/m, 14-16 years of age, 5’6” tall thin build, black short hair, wearing a white t-shirt.

 

There are no surveillance photos of the alleged suspects.
