Crime of the Week 7-31-23
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
Over the past month the Impulse Vape and Glass Shop located at 145 S Oakland has been broken into on three separate occasions. During the early morning hours the suspect(s) forced entry to the business and removed an undisclosed amount of currency, along with thousands of dollars in merchandise.
The number of suspects in each burglary varied and they always wore facial coverings. The most recent burglary captured two suspects on surveillance camera, one of which didn’t have his face covered initially. This suspect appears to be a thin build b/m with a beard. The second suspect is a thin build unknown race male.

News Release 11/05/18
The Macon County Sheriff’s Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On 10/30/18, at approximately 6:48 p.m., Macon County Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of US Route 36 and Shaw Rd., near Casner, IL, in reference to a vehicle vs. bicyclist accident.
Upon arrival, the bicyclist was transported to a local hospital for serious injuries. The suspect vehicle left the scene prior to EMS or Deputies arrival. An eyewitness on scene described the suspect vehicle as a smaller red car. The witness stated the bicyclist was riding westbound on the north side of Route 36 when the bicyclist was struck from behind, by the suspect vehicle. The witness advised, the suspect vehicle continued westbound on Route 36 toward Decatur.
Deputies located a red piece of the suspect vehicle’s front bumper. It was determined that the piece of bumper belongs to a red Chevy Impala. The suspect vehicle should have damage to the front passenger bumper/wheel well.

News Release 10/23/18
The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On 10/16/18, at 9:55pm an Armed Robbery occurred in the area of 1200 E. Leafland Ave. An employee of City Taxi was picking up a customer when they were robbed at gunpoint.
The suspect was a light skinned black male, approximately 15-19 years of age, 5’09-5’10 foot tall, 160 pounds. The suspect was wearing a Red hooded sweatshirt and Red Bandanna that was covering his face. The suspect displayed a Black and Gray semi-automatic handgun and took money from the victim. The suspect was last seen running Northbound on Lowber St.

News Release 08/14/18
The Macon County Sheriff’s Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.
On 07/06/18, at 4:30pm, employees of the Cody Redman Auction House, located at 2102 NW IL Rt. 121, secured the business as usual and left for the evening. When they returned at 9:00am on 07/07/18, they discovered that the business door had been forced open and several firearms inside the business had been stolen.
