Crime of the Week 1/28/2026
The Decatur Police Department needs your help with this week’s Crime of the Week.
On January 6th 2026 at about 0903AM, DPD Officers were dispatch to 1240 N Main St reference a Burglary.
Employees reported a w/m subject entered the facility, by jumping over their enclosed fence on January 2nd 2026 at about 7PM. The subject arrived at the property from the southeast.
Employees stated the subject was seen on surveillance footage using a crowbar to break into the front door to the warehouse. There was additional damage caused to 3 other doors inside the business. The suspect stole several tools while inside the business.
The suspect was a w/m, wearing a mask, dark coat, light colored pants and was carrying a black and gold “Jordan” back pack at the time of the incident.

Crime of the Week 12/17/2025
The Decatur Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.
On December 11, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Decatur Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Hickory Street and North Lowber Street in reference to a shots-fired call. Upon arrival, officers located one live round and sixteen spent shell casings in the 1400 block of North Lowber Street.
Surveillance footage from the area shows a white Toyota Camry traveling southbound on North Lowber Street. The vehicle stopped briefly, at which time automatic gunfire can be heard. The vehicle then continued southbound on North Lowber Street before turning eastbound onto Grand Avenue.

Crime of the Week 12/10/2025
The Decatur Police Department is asking for your help in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.
On 12/04/2025 at approximately 0152 hours Officers responded to 520 S. Main reference a shots fired detail. At 560 S Greenwood Officers located 9 shell casing. Witnesses advised the driver of a black dodge charger or similar style vehicle fire multiple shots out the driver side window and proceeded northbound on S Greenwood. The vehicle continued NB onto N Church St.
Officers reviewed video surveillance of the vehicle turning onto Greenwood from Spring St. Approximately 11 shots can be heard coming from the vehicle before it proceeded north bound. Officers were not able to identify the type of vehicle or the driver from the surveillance footage.
Officers located a possible suspect vehicle at 572 S Church St, however there is no other suspect information at this time.

Crime of the Week 12/02/2025
The Decatur Police Department is asking for your help in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.
On November 19th, Decatur Police Officers responded to an overnight burglary at 1270 North Main Street. Security footage shows four Black male juveniles approaching the business on foot at approximately 3:00 a.m. One suspect, wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants, used what appeared to be a hammer to break a window on the east side of the building. Two additional juveniles—one wearing a black coat, black pants, a black ski mask, and green gloves, and another wearing a black coat, gray pants, black shoes with white soles, and a black ski mask—entered through the broken window.
Once inside, the suspects stole several items of merchandise and caused approximately eight hundred dollars in damage before fleeing southbound on foot. Photos of the suspects can be viewed on the Crime Stoppers website.
