Decatur and Macon County Area Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 when a felony arrest is made as a result of the information that you provide. The Decatur Police Department is asking for your help in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.
On November 19th, Decatur Police Officers responded to an overnight burglary at 1270 North Main Street. Security footage shows four Black male juveniles approaching the business on foot at approximately 3:00 a.m. One suspect, wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants, used what appeared to be a hammer to break a window on the east side of the building. Two additional juveniles—one wearing a black coat, black pants, a black ski mask, and green gloves, and another wearing a black coat, gray pants, black shoes with white soles, and a black ski mask—entered through the broken window.
Once inside, the suspects stole several items of merchandise and caused approximately eight hundred dollars in damage before fleeing southbound on foot. Photos of the suspects can be viewed on the Crime Stoppers website.
This case remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Decatur Police Department urges anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 217-423-TIPS. You can remain completely anonymous, and Crime Stoppers will pay for information that leads to an arrest.
