Decatur and Macon County Area Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 when a felony arrest is made as a result of the information that you provide. Crime Stoppers will also pay $500 or more for information that leads to an arrest on the Crime of the Week. Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name. Crime of the Week 12/17/2025
The Decatur Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in solving this week’s Crime of the Week.
On December 11, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Decatur Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Hickory Street and North Lowber Street in reference to a shots-fired call. Upon arrival, officers located one live round and sixteen spent shell casings in the 1400 block of North Lowber Street.
Surveillance footage from the area shows a white Toyota Camry traveling southbound on North Lowber Street. The vehicle stopped briefly, at which time automatic gunfire can be heard. The vehicle then continued southbound on North Lowber Street before turning eastbound onto Grand Avenue.

This incident remains an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to this crime is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 217-423-TIPS (8477). Tips can be provided anonymously, and Crime Stoppers will pay for information that leads to an arrest.
